Supported Independent Living

Supported Independent Living is at the heart of what we do. Our day-to-day support and supervision in the home is designed around each participant’s assessed needs, routines, preferences and goals. Our focus is on creating a home environment where participants feel safe, respected and supported to live as independently as possible. This includes:
- Personal care and daily routines
- Cooking, meal preparation and household tasks
- Daily tasks and shared living support
- Building independent living and life skills
- Support with appointments and everyday activities
- Collaboration with families, nominees, support coordinators and allied health professionals
Understanding SIL & SDA
Supported Independent Living (SIL) provides support or supervision within the home. This may include assistance with personal care, preparing meals, household tasks, developing routines and building independent living skills. SIL funding pays for the support provided in the home—it does not pay for rent, everyday living expenses or the property itself.
Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) is specially designed housing for eligible participants with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs. SDA funding relates to the property and its specialised features. It does not fund the support workers providing assistance within the home.
Some participants may receive both SIL and SDA funding, depending on their assessed needs and NDIS plan.
